Mission Statement

Speak Out!” A College/Community Coalition to End Violence Against Women is a project on the Purchase College campus which is funded by the US Department of Justice. Its primary goals are to l) to increase awareness about domestic violence, date rape, stalking and all forms of violence against women; 2) to provide supportive and advocacy services for victims of violent crimes; and 3) to hold perpetrators responsible for their behavior, both through the College disciplinary proceedings and fully coordinated investigation and prosecution in the criminal courts.

The Project enjoys the benefits of important collaborating and partner agencies in the Westchester County community, including: My Sisters’ Place of White Plains; Victims Assistance Services of Elmsford; the Westchester County Office of Public Safety; and the Westchester County Office of the District Attorney.

The work of the Project is carried out by two Task Forces which are composed of students, faculty and staff, as well as representatives of our partner agencies. Anyone wishing to join in “speaking out” may contact any staff member listed here.
